RD PRO-10 awards PNP personnel wounded in an encounter with NPA rebs

PCSUPT CATALINO B. RODRIGUEZ, JR., PRO-10 Regional Director awards this afternoon wounded medals to three (3) police officers involved in an encounter with NPA rebs at Nalug-asan Creek, Sitio Liburan, Purok 3, Brgy Sagaran, Talakag, Bukidnon. The incident took place at about 4 PM, April 10, 2013.
 The three police officers were identified as PSINSP ALWIN BACLAO, PO1 Marlon Mendoza and PO1 John Bodiongan, all members of the 104th Maneuver Company, Regional Public Safety Battalion 10. The firefight lasted for about one hour which resulted in two (2) killed and undetermined number of wounded on the rebels’ side. Recovered from the scene were one (1) M16 Rifle and one (1) caliber .38 pistol.
PSINSP BACLAO suffered serious gunshot wounds in his cheek and nape, PO1 Marlon Mendoza suffered gunshot wound in his right leg and PO1 John Bodiongan suffered slight gunshot wound in his head. All three (3) PNP personnel were brought to Cagayan de Oro Medical Center for treatment. PRO-10 in coordination with AFP territorial units, remains focused to provide strategic guidance in the performance of its mandated functions of protecting the state and the people as embodied in the Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP). It shall help government security units in planning for and contributing to the attainment of internal peace and security.
PRO-10 will intensify its proactive security patrols to stop the communist rebels in furthering their criminal activities. Among the security measures to be carried out are the setting up of random checkpoints and the continuous enforcement of the election gun ban. PRO-10 urges the candidates not to give in to the demands of the communist rebels. They are encouraged to report to the PNP or AFP any demand the CPP/NPA/NDF would impose upon them. The PNP in general is willing to provide the candidates the necessary security in order that they will not be harmed.
