Camp Melchor F dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela – Army troops from 86thInfantry Battalion led by 1LT FEROLINO while conducting law enforcement operations encountered more or less 20 NPA Remnants at the boundary of Brgy Sinalugan and Brgy Aringay both of San Guillermo, Isabela at about 1:00 p.m. yesterday.

A fierce firefight ensued between the operating troops and the NPA rebels that lasted for almost five (5) minutes after which the enemy withdrew towards different directions. There were no casualty on the government side while a number of NPARs were seen withdrawing from the area carrying with them their injured comrades as reported by villagers.

LTC JOSE ARN REAL, Commanding Officer of 86IB said “our troops recovered at the encounter site one (1) Garand Rifle with defaced serial number”.

The positive result of the encounter is the product of the timely information given by the villagers regarding the presence of the NPAs in the area who were on extortion activities and collecting foodstuffs from the populace who were fed-up to the extortion activities of the NPA remnants clandestinely operating in the area.
