Rapid assessment teams off to Aurora, Nueva Ecija

As an initial step towards recovery and rehabilitation from the aftermath of Typhoon Lando, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Response Cluster, with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as vice-chair, ​has deployed today six teams to undertake rapid damage and needs assessment (RDANA) in worst-hit provinces of Aurora and Nueva Ecija as initial areas to be covered.

The result of the RDANA will be the basis of the recovery and rehabilitation programs and services to be extended to the disaster victims.

The teams are composed of representatives from different government agencies led by the Office of Civil Defense and DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine National Police, as cluster co-leads, and the humanitarian clusters of the Humanitarian Country Team of the United Nations and International Organizations.

Three teams will cover the towns of Baler, Casiguran, Dinalungan, and Dilasag in Aurora. Likewise, three teams will cover the municipalities of Zaragoza, Cabanatuan, Aliaga, and San Antonio in Nueva Ecija.

DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman said, “We must now focus on recovery and rehabilitation of the devastated areas, and this will take an inter-agency effort.”

As of 2 pm today, a total of 257,934 families or 1,287,269 persons have been affected of which 24,231 families or 109,605 persons are inside 432 evacuation centers managed by LGUs.

A total of ₱26,559,528.98 worth of relief assistance has been provided to affected families where ₱17,782,382.48 came from DSWD, ₱8,754,346.50 came from the LGUs, and ₱37,800 from the NGOs in Regions I, II, III, V and CAR.

An additional 1,000 family food packs were delivered today to Casiguran via a C-130. Another 1,000 family food packs were delivered to Baler, Aurora via a ten-wheeler truck.
