MORO COLLEGE PROFESSOR JOINS A FORUM IN ASEAN COMMUNITY CONFERENCE 2015

Moro college professor joins a forum in ASEAN Community Conference 2015

A Moro college professor joined as panelist in a forum entitled “'Smart Partnership and Moving Forward: Economy, Security, and Socio-Cultural”, a major activity during the “The ASEAN Community Conference (ACC) 2015 at Malaysia."

Prof. Alzad Taradji Sattar of Basilan State College represented the country an ACC 2015 forum entitled Smart Partnership & Moving Forward – Economy, Security and Socio-Cultural.

Other panelists were Prof Dr. Zaid Ahmad of Malaysia and Hussin Mutalib of Singapore with Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif Saman was the forum moderator.

The two-day event with the theme 'The Islamic Civilization in ASEAN Community: Challenges and Hopes" was held at Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia, Bangi, Selangor.

The audiences were coming from Malaysia and ASEAN member states that include as Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Prof. Sattar, currently an Undersecretary of the Department of Education of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, was also a presenter on the International Symposium on "Islam and the New Era of ASEAN Countries: Unity of Worldview towards Shared Prosperity" in June 2012 held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia representing the Philippines.

ASEAN was officially formed in 1967 with the aim to promote cultural, economic and political development in the region.

The original members are Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Other neighboring states in the region also joined.
