Macario "Ka Karyo" Liwanag Narciso Antazo Aramil Command-NPA Rizal July 1, 2012 An 8-man team of New People's Army unit operating in Rizal Province under Narciso Antazo Aramil Command (NAAC-NPA-Rizal) encountered a 12-man unit of 59th IB-PA-AFP last night, June 30, 2012, at exactly 6:10 PM until 6:30 PM in Sitio Apya, Calawis, Antipolo City, Rizal. The NPA team were conducting consultations with the people in the said barangay regarding the recently concluded meeting last June 14-15, 2012 between negotiating panels of the CPP-NPA-NDFP and the Government of the Philippines (GPH) for the resumption of the formal peace talks and the issuance of the NDFP of the Declaration and Program of Action for Rights, Protection and Welfare of Children when they were attacked by government troops. Upon seeing attacking government troops, the NPA team immediately left the populated areas to avoid civilians being caught in crossfire and waited for the attacking government troops which they engaged in a firefight. After 20 minutes exchange of fire, three government soldiers were seriously wounded while the NPA fighters suffered no casualty and safely returned in to their camp inside the Sierra Madre mountain ranges. The 59th IB-PA-AFP tried to hide their casualties but the people in the barangay saw the wounded and blooded three (3) government soldiers being carried by their comrades in a stretcher to a waiting military ambulance to be brought to the hospital. The military also imposed a news black-out so that no news agencies would report their failure in combat and in their so-called OPLAN BAYANIHAN operations. The people of the said barangay and the people of Antipolo City were elated by the result of the encounter. They were happy to see government soldiers who constantly harasses and destroys their lives and livelihood “running with their tails between their legs” when facing the members of the true people’s army, the NPA, who remain to be the people’s real servant. They said that 59th IB-PA is good only in harassing, intimidating, maiming and destroying civilians life and livelihood while in the face of armed NPA fighters they are cowering in fear. This encounter once again proves the capacity of the NPA fighters to repulse attacks of government troops without suffering any casualties with the cooperation and help of the people who provided tactical information to the NPA fighters. True enough, a people’s army supported by the people will never be defeated by any reactionary and mercenary army even with their superior manpower and arms. A pro-rich and pro-US government troops can never defeat a pro-masses and a pro-people New People’s Army. This encounter proves once again that the counter-insurgency program of US- Aquino regime called OPLAN BAYANIHAN is not successful in the province of Rizal contrary to what they publicly pronounced.
