GPH and MILF forces rescue kidnapped fil-am through adherence to ceasefire protocols

Dapitan City- Rex Triplett, a Filipino-American who was kidnapped by armed men last September 16, 2020, was rescued in Barangay Pisa Itom, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte last September 30, 2020.

The success of this operation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of strengthened confidence building and sharing of information between 42nd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, and Philippine National Police (PNP) on the Government side, and the joint efforts facilitated by Mr. Malik Caril, Core Member of the MILF-Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), together with some personnel of the Provincial Police Force (PPF), Local Monitoring Team (LMT) and the 6th Brigade, Expeditionary Troops, 113th Base Command, Western Mindanao Front, Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) on the MILF side.

This remarkable triumph portrays the essence of implementation of ceasefire protocols by which the GPH and MILF security forces work hand in hand in resolving issues concerning public security.

Having this effective collaboration and cooperation between GPH and MILF forces, successful peace efforts become more attainable. This act of unity and teamwork has to be sustained and nurtured all throughout the conflict affected areas (CAA) within and outside Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to achieve a lasting peace and security for everyone.
