Sama-Badjao residents receive rice assistance from BARMM-project tabang
BONGAO TAWI-TAWI (July 11, 2021)- Sama-Badjao residents from two Barangays in Bongao Tawi-Tawi were among the beneficiaries of rice assistance from BARMM-PROJECT TABANG from the office of BARMM Chief Minister, Ahod B. Ebrahim Al Haj, through MP Prof. Abdulla A. Ahang, Saturday, July 10.The relief rice operation was facilitated by Staff of MP
Ahang along with Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs (MIPA)
Provincial Consultant, of Tawi-Tawi Mr. Melham Ahang Abdulhamid, and
officers from Social Welfare Committee (SWC) of Moro Islamic Liberation
Front (MILF) in Bongao Tawi-Tawi.
Aside from other
targeted areas, Barangay Simandagit and Barangay Badjao Village were
previously unserved. These barangays are dominated by indigent Badjaos
who are mostly fisher folks and seaweed farmers as their means to
sustain daily basic needs.
Due to the big number of
households in said communities, each family received five (5) kilos of
packed rice distributed by the staff of MP Ahang, and Mr. Abdulhamid to
those badly affected by COVID-19 Pandemic.
When
COVID -19 pandemic broke out in March 2020, the BARMM-PROJECT TABANG and
BARMM Regional Government, Ministries and its Agencies have rolled out
various interventions to the province through its Local Government Units
and respective MPs in a bid to lessen the burden of affected residents
especially in the far-flung communities.
