FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – A send-off ceremony was tendered by
the Command to the new batch of junior officers composed of 168
graduates of Officer Candidate Course “GAHIUSA” Class 48-2017 and
Officer Preparatory Course “LAKANLAWIG” Class 67-2016 held at the
Ricarte Hall, Philippine Army Officer Clubhouse, Tuesday, April 10,
2018.
These young officers, after graduating from their respective foundation courses have undergone additional trainings aimed at honing further their knowledge and skills for the real-world operational condition. For several months, their training was focused on improving their individual war fighting competency, understanding Rule of Law and Human Rights protocols and improving their leadership ability through the Basic Officer Leader Course.
The deployment of these new lieutenants will surely bolster the increasing demand for platoon leaders in the field especially that the Army is at the cutting edge of the government’s effort in addressing the country’s internal security threats. Further, it will improve the readiness condition of the ground forces particularly the Infantry Divisions. Presently, the Philippine Army is geared on enhancing its force structure by establishing additional 10 Infantry Battalions, 1 Ranger Battalion and an Engineer Combat Battalion.
Lieutenant General Rolando Joselito D Bautista, Commanding General Philippine Army, in his message said, “as the new breed of officers, you will be the ones who will lead our men at the forefront to confront the threat. So, be prepared and do not put your guard down. The moment you step on the battle ground, I want you to remember this creed that guided me throughout the years - Let your presence be felt by your men, motivation starts when your soldiers see you fighting side by side with them.”
“Bear in mind that in everything you do, your troops are your responsibility. Great Military leaders are those that are able to effectively accomplish their mission while taking care of the welfare of their troops,” Bautista, added.
The Philippine Army being the primary ground component of the AFP remains steadfast in achieving its goal of a professional and world-class to be better of service to the people and the country. #
