FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila-
The new Commanding General, Major General Macairog S. Alberto, formally
assumed command of the Philippine Army in a simple Change of Command
and Retirement Ceremony held here today, October 15, 2018.
Major General Alberto who was the Chief
of the Intelligence Service of the AFP replaces Lieutenant General
Rolando Joselito D. Bautista who just vowed out from the military
service upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56
With the current trend in the Philippine
security environment, Major General Alberto said, “I will endeavor to
make the Philippine Army a more agile force, one that is prepared and
able to meet current and emerging threats.”
The new Army Chief is yet to discuss his
command thrust. However, during the assumption ceremony he expressed
his commitment to develop the Army capabilities, organize and train
soldiers both in active and reserve units, and look after the moral and
welfare of the troops.
Moreover, with the Philippine Army
gaining its momentum in its Army Transformation Roadmap, Major General
Alberto expressed that he will continue to sustain the implementation of
its ATR initiatives in order to meet its vision to be a world-class
Army by 2028.#
