Tawi-Tawi far-flung barangay receive relief goods from BARMM, LGU’s

BONGAO TAWI-TAWI- In an effort to ease the burden of the most vulnerable residents in the island Barangays of Tawi-Tawi province due to COVID-19 Pandemic, various households have already received relief food packs from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), provincial and Municipal Local Government Units (LGUs), and other concerned agencies, and individuals.   
 
The distribution of relief assistance from BARMM through its quick response fund, and relief operation carried-out by the LGUs could somehow ease the sufferings of local folks brought about by Corona Virus-2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic resulting to the declaration of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) lockdown by national government.

MP Prof. Abdulla A. Ahang, member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament representing Tawi-Tawi province lamented the hardships confronted by the people in the remote island barangays and municipalities that were badly affected by the lockdown.

MP Ahang assisted by MILF volunteers distributed to about two thousand households in different barangays in Sibutu and Sitangkai municipality from April 11-13 


The beneficiaries of relief food packs were fisher folks and Seaweed Farmers whose livelihood are temporarily halted after the imposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine where movement of residents are restricted during lockdown period. 

Aside from LGUs relief efforts, relief operation was also carried-out by some members of the Municipal Political Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), BIAF decommissioned combatants, and other MILF line Agencies in Tawi-Tawi who also served as front liners and volunteers during the relief operation. 

The relief operation was coordinated with concerned Local Government Units and the Inter-Agency Taskforce(IATF) on COVID-19 (IATF) in the areas. 

Governor Yshmael (Mang) I. Sali of Tawi-Tawi, also head of Inter-Agency Taskforce against COVID-19 in the province along with Municipal LGUs down to barangay level and other Government Agencies have collectively taken appropriate measures to ensure that the needs of their constituents are properly addressed. 

They appealed to their constituents to observe and obey the government directives that pertain the COVID-19 especially the ECQ, social distancing during the lockdown.  
 
In abiding with the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act” (RA 11469) on the COVID-19 Pandemic the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Government have adopted Executive Order No. 2020-08 substantiating the adoption and extension of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), and for other purposes in the province effective April 14 to April 30. 2020.

The Provincial Government and LGUs in the province have expressed their profound gratitude to BARMM Regional Government for the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and other Medical Kits, and other assistance extended to the province in its effort to combat the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Relief assistance beneficiaries have expressed their profound gratitude to MP Ahang, PLGU and Local Officials for the food packs extended to them during this trying times.
