Major General Burgos assumes as Commander of NOLCOM


Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay hands over the Command Sabre from outgoing Commander of Northern Luzon Command, LtGen Ramiro Manuel Rey to the incoming commander, Major General Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr in a Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony on September 7, 2020 at Camp Aquino, Tarlac.

The outgoing NOLCOM chief is a Marawi Siege veteran and the former Commander of the AFP Special Operations Command that consolidates, oversees, and manages the AFP's elite units.

He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy "Hinirang" Class of 1987 who was also designated as Commander of the Special Forces Regiment and the 1st Special Forces Battalion. He also served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for CMO, G7 and Commander of the CMO Group of the Philippine Army.

The incoming commander of NOLCOM is the concurrent 2nd Infantry Division Commander and the former commander of 202nd Brigade. During his stint in 2ID, he was able to dismantle two guerilla fronts of the New People’s Army, the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee’s Guerilla Front Cesar which operates in the provinces of Rizal, Laguna, Quezon and Bulacan and the Guerilla Front Honda. Major General Burgos was also assigned as the Chief of the AFP Public Affairs Office.
