CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The
newly installed Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines
(AFP) General Carlito Galvez Jr led 38 other star-rank officers in the
customary oath taking ceremony before President Rodrigo Duterte in
Malacañang Palace Tuesday, 08 May 2018.
Prior the oath-taking,
then Lieutenant General Galvez was promoted to the highest rank of
General exclusive to the AFP Chief of Staff. The rank was donned by
President Duterte, assisted by the Secretary of National Defense Delfin
Lorenzana and General Galvez’ family.
Ten two-star generals
also took their oaths namely MGen Restituto Padilla Jr, Deputy Chief of
Staff (DCS) for Plans, J5; MGen Fernando Trinidad, DCS for Intelligence,
J2; MGen Gilbert Gapay, Commander of the Mechanized Infantry Division;
MGen Rene Glen Paje, DCS for Civil Military Operations, J7; MGen Jesus
Manangquil Jr, Commander of the 9th Infantry Division; MGen Roseller Murillo, Commander of the 1st Infantry
Division; MGen Jose Antonio Carlos Motril, The Internal Auditor; MGen
Danilo Chad Isleta, Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army (PA); MGen
Perfect Rimando Jr, Commander of the 5th Infantry Division; and MGen Gener Del Rosario, Inspector General, PA.
Fifteen one-star
generals were also in the ceremony including BGen Joseph Villanueva,
Dean of Academics, Philippine Military Academy; BGen Byron Calimag,
Deputy Commander of the Army Support Command; BGen Alden Juan Masagca,
Assistant Division Commander, 5th Infantry Division; BGen
Oliver Artuz, Special Military Assistant to the President; BGen Agane
Adriatico, Commander of Army Artillery Regiment; BGen Reynaldo Aquino,
Deputy Commander of AFP Special Operations Command; BGen Luis Vincent
Tacderas, Chief of the AFP Pension and Gratuity Management Center;
Commodore Toribio Adaci Jr, Commander of the Fleet-Marine Ready Force;
and BGen Joselito Serrano, The Quartermaster General.
They were joined by newly promoted Infantry Brigade (Bde) Commanders namely BGen Eliezer Losañes (303rd Bde), BGen Leopoldo Imbang Jr (503rd Bde), BGen Henry Robinson Jr (702nd Bde), BGen Ernesto Torres Jr (1003rdBde), BGen Roberto Ancan (1002nd Bde), and BGen Erwin Bernard Neri (1001st Bde).
Military reservists
BGen Herbert Bautista, BGen Jose Mier, BGen Claro Lozada, BGen Florante
Isles, BGen Joel Sergio, BGen Francis Tolentino, Commodore Ramolito
Guinoma, BGen Rodilyn Manzano, and BGen Erik Miguel Espina also joined
the oath-taking.
The oath-taking
ceremony is a military tradition where newly promoted generals renew
their commitment to the Chain of Command enshrined in the Philippine
Constitution. ###
