4th Infantry Battalion clash with Communist NPA Terrorists, seize firearm in Oriental Mindoro

AGUINALDO, Quezon City - Elements of the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry
Battalion engaged with the CNT members while conducting focused
military operations in Sitio Hagupit, Brgy. Lisap in Bongabong, Oriental
Mindoro on Wednesday, June 8.
Following the encounter, troops
were able to capture an M14 rifle with magazine and ammunitions,
cellular phone, assorted medicines, contraceptive pills, and subversive
documents from the enemies.
According to Brigadier General Jose
Augusto V Villareal, Commander of 203rd Bantay (Kapayapaan) Brigade,
information was provided by a concerned civilian who preferred not to
reveal his identity for security reason.
Accordingly, the CNTs were conducting foraging activities in the IP community.
He
called on the remaining NPA members in the island of Mindoro to stop
their senseless struggle that only leads to hardship and death.
“I
encourage our brothers and sisters who have gone the wrong path to
return to the fold of the law and avail of our government’s Ehanced
Comprehensive Local Intergation Program. Those who continue the armed
conflict which harm our fellow Mindoreños and prevent development in the
island will face our full force using modern equipment to put a stop to
their violent activities and have them answer before the law,”
Brigadier General Villareal said.///
