250 families in Maguindanao del Norte receive hygiene kits from MP Iqbal, MOH-BARMM
COTABATO
CITY – The Office of MP Mohagher Iqbal, in partnership with the
Ministry of Health (MOH) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (BARMM) launched Medical Outreach Program (MOP) in Sitio
Dimapatoy, Barangay Dinaig Proper, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del
Norte on Monday, Feb. 20.
Two-hundred families received hygiene kits as the part of the outreach program.
In her message during the brief launching ceremony, Dinaig Proper Punong Barangay Lawanbai Sinsuat-Dalidig thanked the Office of Iqbal and the MOH for the assistance.
Lawyer Sarah Bagis, Legal Officer of the Office of MP Iqbal, explained that P1 million is allotted annually by the BARMM for each Member of Parliament to be used for providing health services to selected beneficiaries in cooperation with the MOH.
Bagis said this year’s MOP is intended for the victims of the Severe Tropical Storm Paeng that wreaked havoc across many parts of the country in October last year.
Meriam Malik, a nurse who represented the MOH, expressed her optimism that the recipients would appreciate the hygiene kits given to them.
Meanwhile, Abdulwahab Guialal, Chief of Staff of Iqbal’s BTA Office, said the aid should have been received by the beneficiaries immediately after the exit of the STS Paeng from the country but there were processes that were strictly observed in the procurement of the said assistance.
Guialal said “both natural and man-made disasters such as those caused by armed conflicts usually hit us.”
“But now that we already have the BARMM, there are no more armed conflicts between the government and the MILF,” Guialal said.
