CSAFP visits troops in Visayas, relays orders to end armed conflict

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City— The Chief of Staff, AFP General Andres C Centino PA, visited the troops of the Visayas Command (VISCOM) on March 23 as part of his efforts to personally assess the capability and morale of military personnel as they push for the completion of their mission.

He was accompanied by members of his staff, including MGen Gabriel Viray III, the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) for Civil-Military Operations, J7; BGen Fernando Reyeg, the DCS for Operations, J3; BGen Ferdinand Barandon, the Acting DCS for Intelligence, J2; and MCPO Joe Marie Lucero, the Acting AFP Sergeant Major.

“We’re here to perform the crucial task of seeing that the morale of our troops is at its highest, to talk and know that all is well and that you’ve been given specific tasks about our campaign,” the CSAFP said.

He added that the AFP is nearing completion of the transfer of additional forces in the Visayas and thanked the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Air Force for helping in the troop movements. The shift in forces was necessary to further intensify the military campaign against the communist terrorist group, especially in Samar and Negros provinces.

“It is important for the Visayas Command to be on top of the situation, supervise the activities of the different Joint Task Forces, and ensure that the plans are understood and implemented on the ground,” the CSAFP added as he assured the troops of continued support from higher headquarters./// (Photos by TSgt Obinque PAF, PAOAFP)
