2 NPAs yield, surrender firearms to AFP
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Two NPA rebels in Quezon surrendered on April 27, 2022, as a result of joint military operations and successful delivery of government services.
Joint elements of the 85th Infantry Battalion, 59th Infantry Battalion, and 83rd Infantry Battalion facilitated the surrender in Sitio Buli, Brgr. Castañas, Sariaya, Quezon.
Former rebels Alias Dayen and Alias Roy (true name withheld for their security) voluntarily presented themselves before the military as former members of Front Operation Command, L1 KP2, BRPC. During the initial interview, the surrenderees disclosed that the pressure of continuing military operations and the delivery of government services in far-flung communities encouraged them to abandon the armed struggle and join the government in its call for peace.
They turned in one (1) caliber .45 pistol with five (5) rounds of ammunition and one (1) caliber .38 revolver with nine (9) rounds of ammunition during their surrender.
According to the AFP's Southern Luzon Command, the successful implementation of the local Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in the area continues to bear fruit, as manifested by the surrender of these NPA rebels. The said personalities who returned to the fold of the law shall now be reintroduced to mainstream society.///
