2 terrorist NPAs killed in Quezon encounter

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) seized thousands of ammunition and firearms owned by the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Sorsogon on April 21.
Lt. Col. Nelson Mico, Commanding Officer of 22nd Infantry Battalion (22IB) under the 903rd Brigade of the 9th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, reported that his troops discovered the CTG’s armed cache at the hinterland areas of Barangay Capi, Bulan through the report of concerned civilians.The soldiers seized two M16 rifles, 72 magazines for M16 and M14 rifles, more than eight thousand rounds of ammunition, and subversive documents. The war materials were loaded in a drum container and buried in the grassy area when discovered by the government forces.
Brig. Gen. General Aldwine I Almase, Commander of the 903rd Brigade, underscored the importance of seizing the war materials that the CTG could use in their extortion activities and atrocities against the people.
Meanwhile, Major General Alex DC Luna, Commander of Joint Task Force Bicolandia, stressed that the people are already aware of the true color of the CTG as shown by their cooperation in reporting the presence of the armed group and their hidden arms cache in their communities.
“To the remaining communist terrorist NPAs, our government and the Filipino people only seek peace, security, and prosperity of our country. So if you choose to stay with the armed movement, the government is not only your enemy but also the Filipino people. Stop deceiving the people; better yet, return to the government fold and have a peaceful and productive life,” Maj. Gen. Luna said.
Aside from its focused military operations against the CTG, the AFP also supports the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in seizing the enemy’s weapons and stopping its resource generation in order to expedite the end of the local communist armed conflict in the country.///(Photos from 9ID, PA)
