COTABATO CITY— The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) on its chapters nationwide has conducted series of Ramadhan programs that include Islamic Symposium, free iftar, essay writing contest, social media Da’wah program through the Moro Millennia.

UNYPAD Chapter and the Barangay Local Government Unit of Tapodoc (Tapodoc BLGU) has collaborated for a Ramadhan Islamic Symposium last April 10, 2022 at Barangay Covered Court, Tapodoc, SGA- BARMM.

The women sector, residents of the barangay and its neighboring areas, and the provincial and national officers of the organization attended the activity.

“Programs like this, especially if it is for Islam and for the betterment of the youth, are very much supported by the BLGU,“ said Hon. Khadaphy M. Taya, Punong Barangay of Tapodoc.

“As long as it is coordinated with us, anytime, you are all welcome here with open arms,” Taya added.

Sheikh Umer Kalimbol, the resource speaker, talked about the history, values, and significance of the holy month of fasting.

“Ramadhan teaches us to have self- control over our negative emotions. It also teaches us not to lie as all of these will take away the essence of our fasting, “Sheikh Kalimbol said.

Moreover, he emphasized that fasting must be coupled with obligatory prayers, as one’s fasting will lost its value, if it was left out.

“A person who has sabar (patience) will also have the best corresponding reward from Allah (The Most Gracious and, The Most Merciful), as he endures not to eat, drink, sleep, and alike, all for the glory of the Allah (The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful),” he said.

UNYPAD President Dr. Rahib L. Kudto gave updates on the GPH- MILF Peace Process. He highlighted the key achievements of the negotiation.

“One is the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao that expresses meaningful self- governance of the Bangsamoro, and the other one is the Identification of the Six ( 6 ) Priority Codes, plus the addition of the Indigenous People’s Code, where three of those codes have already been passed,” he related.

On the implementation of the peace process, the UNYPAD chief said, “It is really justifiable for us to seek the extension because of the factors that affected the transition period, and one of them is the COVID- 19 Pandemic, which causes delays in the delivery of the services, both by the Philippine Government and the BARMM.”

Baisanie J. Macabuat, UNYPAD Women Affairs Committee (WAC) Chairwoman, emphasized the role of the women in the organization, and to the society.

“In UNYPAD, we are working as partners. The best of you are those who are best to their woman“ she said, and reminded everyone the importance of having ikhlas in everything a person does.

UNYPAD- Aleosan Chapter Chairman, Abdulkadir Zaman, expressed his message of support, as he commended the UNYPAD- Tapodoc Chapter for the successful program.

The food packs were provided by Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud thru its “Gift of Iftar” from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques project coursed through Sheikh Umer Kalimbol.
