MOH-BARMM inaugurates new health facilities

Cotabato City -- The Ministry of Health (MOH) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) marked the 6th anniversary of the region with the inauguration of new health facilities that will serve thousands of residents, particularly those in remote areas.

MOH Minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr. emphasized that the newly constructed facilities aim to ensure access to quality healthcare services, even in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA). He stressed that these facilities are supported by a sufficient number of healthcare workers to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

“Our service doesn't end with the construction of these facilities. We have enough personnel to ensure that necessary health services are provided in the Bangsamoro,” Sinolinding said.

He also highlighted the importance of moral governance in providing healthcare services and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim for his unwavering support.

Sinolinding underscored that these initiatives are part of the government’s 12-point priority agenda, which aims to provide equitable, high-quality, and affordable medical services to the people.

The newly constructed facilities include Barangay Health Stations (BHS) and Rural Health Units (RHU) located in various municipalities:

According to MOH data, almost all 63 barangays in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) have functional Barangay Health Stations (BHS), while eight Rural Health Units (RHUs) are dedicated to the eight municipalities. The majority of the funding for these facilities came from the Tiyakap Bangsamoro Kalusugan Program (TBKP).

Currently, one BHS is yet to be constructed due to land acquisition issues, while six more are nearing completion.

Sinolinding emphasized that these projects are a testament to the government's continuous efforts to bring about real change and improve healthcare services for the Bangsamoro people.
